Styling bridal wear the Rashmika way
Rashmika Mandanna’s wedding looks were fresh and original and meaningful. Her wedding was part of the larger wedding trends being adopted by brides around the world in personalising their bridal wear. Bridal trends are moving towards traditional colours, references to heritage and incorporating personal stories into bridal wear.
Rashmika’s rust-orange ceremony saree was designed by Anamika Khanna. With a flaming red border, the saree was paired with a red and gold blouse and a golden head veil bordered with red. The saree was designed as a two-piece, which gave it a beautiful drape. It had structured pleats and a pallu adorned with intricate temple-inspired embroidery. Anamika Khanna used temple motives inspired by the carved sanctums and spiritual geometry of Andhra heritage. The saree had rich hand embroidery in gold and, reputedly, the verse, ‘In every lifetime’.

Rashmika’s Mysore silk red saree too stayed true to character. The crepe saree had a red and black combination, and was designed by Monica Shah of Jadebymk and woven by Madhurya creations. This saree paid homage to Rashmika’s Kodava roots with the Gundaberunda motifs on the pallu. The saree had intricate gold and seed pearl embellishments, with silver and gold thread motifs.

Rashmika’s bridal looks were anchored around simplicity and elegance. She wore a Suta mulmul saree in orange-peach with sequins and tassels.

Similarly, for the first award ceremony post-wedding, Rashmika picked a simple ivory saree with a matching blouse. She added a traditional golden necklace and her mangalsutra with the saree.

Rashmika’s haldi look was again from Anamika Khanna. It was a one-shoulder jade- green dress with a flowing draped skirt.

For her mehendi, she wore an arresting lehenga from Torani. Her lehenga in jewels tones was dominated by crimson, deep blue and green. Rashmika’s dress had the richness of temple garments and the story of Lakshmi. The dress was inspired by Tanjore paintings, celebrating temple arches and the luminosity of regal gold. It had a bejewelled corset and draped dhoti skirt and a Lakshmi dupatta.

For her sangeet, she wore a stunning Falguni Shane Peacock. She picked a luminescent ivory lehenga, embellished with sapphires and crystals. It was paired with a sharply tailored blouse with sapphire motifs, catching the light with every movement.
