Blue is on the fashion ramps

Burberry painted the ceiling sky blue at the London Fashion Week. It may have been serendipitous, but beyond its visual impact, it does seem that the many shades of blue are having their moment in fashion. Blue is becoming more vocal in collections, with designers also using blue to highlight, treating it as a pop colour. From cobalt and cornflower blue to more icy tones, and even a surfeit of denim on denim, the shade seemed to signal a major trend for the year ahead.

Blue has been having a dream run this year. From baby blues to sophisticated teals, Chloe has celebrated the shade, as a shade on its own, and for its arresting signature placements.

At Dior, Jonathan Anderson dressed Anya Taylor-Joy for the Toronto Film Festival in blue, in a contemporary fairytale gown. The gown, with a sleeveless bodice and a voluminous skirt, had a basket weave on the fabric of the skirt.

Gucci’s new 37-look collection named La Famiglia has two beautifully rendered retro-inspired pieces in blue.

At Jill Sanders, shades of blue from conventional navy to pastels created a power-packed functional wardrobe.

At Diesel, denim blue made its impact in many forms.

Carolina Herrera placed blue for statement.

Coach went blue on blue for creating a perfect silhouette.

Emilia Wickstead went all denim as well.

Tove played with cobalt blue in a signature look.

So did Roksanda.

For all the brides in the year ahead, your something blue just got trendy.
